2020 is the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Trianon. On this occasion the Hungarian National Museum presents various art and cultural treasures from the territories annexed from Hungary in a photo exhibition. The exhibition, originally designed as a picture gallery on the fences of the Hungarian National Museum, itself a symbol of national unity, will be opened this autumn due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In the present situation when joining our forces is more important than ever, the Hungarian National Museum makes a point of expressing our unity with communities outside Hungary’s borders and exhibits timeless treasures of our life together on this anniversary.
Therefore a part of our exhibition is presented as a virtual photo gallery.
The YEAR OF NATIONAL UNITY VIRTUAL PHOTO GALLERY renders the talent and creativity of the Hungarian people visible, and makes us aware that preserving the Hungarian spiritual unity takes active effort, and so does passing on the living cultural heritage of the community.
The 100th anniversary of the Treaty of Trianon reminds us all that the future of the region lies in union and partnership and that the cultural heritage of the Carpathian Basin is an indivisible common property of all the people living here.
The YEAR OF NATIONAL UNITY VIRTUAL PHOTO GALLERY will be accessible for six weeks, with weekly updates from June 4, 2020 to July 9, 2020.
